I needed to keep my substack active but most everyone is out enjoying America’s Independence weekend. So, just some Yooper pictures today. Hope you enjoy what the U.P. has to offer.
Getting here. Wish I had thought to get this lady’s name so I could give her credit for this photo.
Grabbed this one off facebook of a man with a 38 pound Lake Trout he pulled from Lake Superior.
Big ship on the big water. Generally, these iron ore haulers are 110 feet long. Do you remember the song by Gordon Lightfoot, the Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald? This was the same of ship he was singing about. It is a spectacular sight to watch them go through the Soo Locks!
Lake of the Clouds, Porcupine Mountains.
There is a turnout near Bruce Crossings, Mich. called Paulding where you can sit and watch strange lights move across the horizon. https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/paulding-light
After the first frost in September looking east down the powerline.
The first snowfall in late October.
Hope you enjoyed a quick moment shared in the U.P. Leave me a comment if you would like to see more. I will upload more of my own photos next time.
